Cold, colder, Moscow: The CholodExpo Rossija exhibition in Moscow from 19-21 February was geared to refrigeration. At the premiere of its new exhibition in 2008, the promoter NürnbergMesse welcomed 72 exhibitors from 15 countries, who presented their refrigeration applications, components and systems in the Crocus Expo Center in Moscow. Almost 3,000 trade visitors used the three days of the exhibition for exchanging views and looking for information on the ground in Moscow. A comprehensive conference programme rounded off the event and the 22 presentations were among the highlights of the supporting programme for around 370 conference participants. One thing is already clear: CholodExpo Rossija will return – from

NürnbergMesse as promoter is satisfied with the premiere of the first purely refrigeration exhibition in the difficult Russian exhibition market. “70 mostly satisfied exhibitors, mainly from Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic, almost 3,000 top visitors from the trade, and above all the clear commitment of the exhibitors, visitors and Russian partners to continue the exhibition are the decisive reasons for this,” says Walter Hufnagel, Member of the Management Board of NürnbergMesse: “We see good prospects for the development of CholodExpo in close cooperation with Chillventa Nürnberg. What we still have to work on is a stronger commitment by the Russian companies as exhibitors.”
The visitors’ interest was clearly focused on products and services for refrigeration applications in food production and in the storage and sale of food in the trade. The solutions presented attracted great interest, as especially international suppliers score in Russia with Western know-how and sophisticated technology.
The almost 3,000 visitors were recognizable as experts from the industry. “There was particularly keen interest in West European developments,” says Frank Venjakob, Exhibition Director at Nürnberg Global Fairs, which organized CholodExpo Rossija on behalf of NürnbergMesse. “The visitors also included a number of potential exhibitors, who wanted to see the exhibition first before exhibiting there themselves next year.” The presentations with a mixed programme of Russian and English papers also attracted great interest among the visitors – often followed by extensive discussions.
The approaching Chillventa Nürnberg 2008 was a key topic during the three days of the exhibition in Moscow. “Many fair visitors plan to visit Chillventa in October to strengthen the contacts made at CholodExpo in Moscow. We as promoter also see good prospects of development from the cooperation between Chillventa and CholodExpo,” thinks Gabriele Hannwacker, Exhibition Director Chillventa Nürnberg. Chillventa 2008 takes place in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg from 15-17 October 2008 ( www.chillventa.de).
Satisfied exhibitors
“We did not expect such great interest among the visitors,” says one of the exhibitors summing up his successful appearance at the premiere of the CholodExpo Rossija refrigeration exhibition in Moscow. The other exhibitors also summed up favourably: They made new customer contacts, cultivated existing business relationships and gathered firsthand information about the Russian market. According to a survey of exhibitors, the bulk of them plan to exhibit again in the coming year.
“CholodExpo Rossija comes at the right time in the right place,” says Mauro Bonfanti of Frascold expressing the view of many exhibitors, and Peter Pintar, Sales Manager East Europe at Bock agreed: “We regard the exhibition as pioneering for the Russian market.” The Russian participants themselves think similarly, is the verdict of Fedor Saytsev of Syrievaya Metallurgitcheskaya Kompaniya: “The visitors are people from production and installation who ask very specific technical questions. It really is a technical exhibition, and promising contacts were made.”
The next CholodExpo Rossija takes place from 17-19.2.2009.
